This detox green smoothie is a great way to get lots of vegetables and nutrients in a tasty way after any big meal or holiday.
While Thanksgiving yesterday consisted of a reasonable portion of callaloo stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes and nutmeg sauce here in Grenada, every other 31 Thanksgivings I’ve experienced (and can remember) have left me sprawled out on the living room couch literally rolling around in pain from eating too much willing my body to start digesting.
Of course, once it did and the pain subsided, I’d just roll myself back to the table, eat a piece of every dessert and then repeat the process again on the couch swearing I wouldn’t do this to myself next year which of course never happened (unless you count leaving the country this year and not having the opportunity to do so at all).
I could talk all day about moderation and how you can survive the holidays in a healthy way but honestly, I think I’d rather just have my day in pain and pure food coma bliss on Thanksgiving and throw health out the window.
Until I wake up the next morning.
I’ve never done a juice cleanse (and probably never will) but if there’s one day a year I’d be down with it, it’s Black Friday.
I used Aloha’s Daily Good Green whole food powder in this detox green smoothie as well as almost every other green item in my fridge. Their powders are made with organic and sustainably grown produce that’s then dried to contain over two half cup servings of vegetables. It’s a packet with a punch!
This is probably the greenest thing I ever drank. The flavor is lemony, minty and of course with an undertone of fresh greens but I can guarantee you this: it’ll shock your body back into health after a day of gluttony.
