Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese

Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese

This will basically be the best grilled cheese of your life – stacked with cheesy, meaty goodness! Perfect for a quick dinner!

Anything that involves the word “cheeseburger” is an automatic win.

For example, take cheeseburger pasta. Or a cheeseburger quesadilla.

And of course, there’s the classic actual cheeseburger.

So when I present you with this cheeseburger grilled cheese, no one loses in this one.

In fact, I think I like it better than a cheeseburger.

There’s no lettuce or tomatoes to get in the way!

It’s just meet, cheese, tomatoes and crisp, crusty-buttery bread.

Done.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef*
  • 1 1.25-ounce package taco seasoning
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 8 slices whole wheat bread
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add ground beef and cook until beef has browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the beef as it cooks; stir in taco seasoning. Drain excess fat.

  • Stir in cheese and tomatoes until the cheese has just melted.

  • With a butter knife, spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices, buttered side down, on work surface. Divide ground beef mixture evenly on all slices. Top with remaining slices, buttered side up.

  • Heat the skillet over low heat. Add sandwiches and cover; cook, turning once with a spatula, until golden brown and the cheese has completely melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  • Slice and serve immediately.

*Ground chicken or turkey can be substituted.
