I don’t get how people can eat junk food all the time.

There was one girl at my last office job who would almost always eat McDonald’s for breakfast and Chinese food for lunch (or so it seemed).

Don’t get me wrong – I love McDonald’s burgers and General Tso’s chicken, but after eating grease and carbs for a week, my body rebels.

I crave fruit and vegetables and think of how to incorporate them more into my meals.

Veggies are a no brainer for me, but I’m not a pick-up-an-apple-and-eat kind of girl. Give me broccoli. Give me carrots. But oranges? Apples? Bananas?

I want to thank whoever invented fruit smoothies because I made Banana Mango Yogurt Smoothies. Fruit doesn’t have to be boring anymore!

Smoothies were a treat for me as a kid. They were always expensive because of the fresh fruit, so I rarely bought them.

Even in college, coffee was much cheaper than a smoothie.

However, I would treat myself every few months so I didn’t completely miss out. Then I started making smoothies at home.

I wanted to make it as healthy as possible because I know some smoothies have a whole lot of sugar added.

Even some juices you get from the juice aisle aren’t as healthy as you think with high fructose corn syrup and 10% real fruit juice. Side note – go for the juices in the fresh produce section. Make sure the label says “made with 100% fruit juice”.

What fruit goes with banana in a smoothie?

Obviously by the title, mango and banana go well together. Mango is one of my favorite tropical fruits and is often juicy enough on its own to not have to add extra liquid to your smoothie.

You want to pick a juicy fruit to go with the banana because you need that juiciness to smooth out your drink.

Some excellent juicy fruits beside mango are pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and peaches.

How do you make a smoothie without ice?

I’m not a huge fan of ice in my drinks unless it’s absolutely necessary. Luckily for these smoothies, you don’t need ice!

I used frozen banana slices to replace the ice cubes so your smoothie doesn’t get watered down. That means you can taste the fruit flavor even more.

Frozen bananas also give your smoothie a creamier texture. When you blend frozen bananas, they turn into a faux banana ice cream. This means your smoothie will have a milkshake-like consistency without any ice cream involved.

I highly recommend keeping frozen banana slices in your freezer so you can make this drink at a moment’s notice.

How do you thin out a smoothie?

Normally you’d use milk or juice to thin out a smoothie. However, your mango should be juicy and sweet enough on its own to create a smoothie consistency without additional sugar.

However, if your smoothie is too thick, gradually add some milk or mango juice until desired consistency.

How do you make a mango banana smoothie without yogurt?

Sometimes I don’t have any Greek yogurt on hand, but I almost always have milk!

Add the mango, bananas, and a little bit of milk then blend. I don’t have an exact amount for you, but keep adding milk in small parts until you’re happy with the consistency.

The smoothie won’t be as creamy without Greek yogurt, but luckily frozen banana slices are creamy once blended.

Don’t have milk? Use fruit juice, preferably 100% real fruit juice from your store’s fresh produce section.
